Slater Compassion Center Rebranding

This new logo for Slater was designed to embody tradition and local pride, reflecting Rhode Island’s cultural heritage and legacy of iconic hometown brands. As the state’s first and oldest dispensary, named after Thomas C. Slater, the identity takes cues from vintage marks and classic typography to create something familiar, rooted, and lasting. The goal is to position Slater as a quintessential Rhode Island heritage brand—a name locals know and trust.

Beyond the logo, the full rebrand channels a warm, timeless sense of community—think the “Cheers” of cannabis. The typography nods to retro 1970s fonts, striking a balance between playful and refined. It moves the brand away from sterile, clinical aesthetics and into something more welcoming, with energy and character. Letterforms curl and stretch like smoke, giving the system a dynamic, lived-in feel.
